Conferences
New England SCBWI offers an annual conference in the spring. Members receive reduced conference tuition. The content of the conference is a mix of presentations and workshops, designed to assist the novice and encourage the established professional. In addition, New England SCBWI organizes smaller events and workshops for writers and illustrators. Also, SCBWI offers an annual summer conference in Los Angeles, and a Midyear winter conference in New York City.

Critique Groups

Critique Groups

New England SCBWI has a total of 72 critique groups, 56 of which are open face to face critique groups spread out over New England. All SCBWI members who are looking for a group to join can email critiquegroups@nescbwi.org with your name and interests, so that we can have them on file. If there are no open groups listed in your area, think about starting one up. We have starter packets available with information, books to suggest and experienced group leaders who will be happy to answer your questions. Email critiquegroups@nescbwi.org for more information.

Online Groups

Unfortunately at this time, we don't have any open online groups. If you'd like to start one, or if you have questions about the way an online group works, please read Everything You've Always Wanted To Know About Cyber-Critiquing (but were too much of a CLUC to ask) by SCBWI member and online group leader, Peggy Tromblay.

Offline Groups

These critique groups are only open to members of the Society of Children's Writers and Illustrators. If you are not yet a member, please join us. If there are no email addresses for group leaders, please email critiquegroups@nescbwi.org

Workshops
Each New England region occasionally sponsors area workshops that give members opportunities to learn and to network with peers. These get-togethers range in scope from workshops on one aspect of producing children's books, to day tours, to "teas" hosted by bookstores for published New England SCBWI members. In addition, we try to keep members up to date about workshops for writers and artists sponsored by other groups in the region.
